I listened to Biden's farewell address to Afghanistan. He was condecending and judgmental. He left the The impression that the return of the Taliban happened because pro-american Afghanistanis were cowardly and lazy. When a government changes so quickly it means the old regime wasn't popular. For the Taliban to have taken control without blood shed means the people were not willing to die for the old regime. I have read a bit about the return of Charles II to England when the Cromwell regime collapsed. This was only possible because of a broad support for the return of the monarchy. We Westerners assume everybody wants to be just like is. We need to realise that many come here just for the money and that they consider us to be the barbarians, not them. We are so sure of ourselves that we think we are the best. I won't judge, but neither should you. The speed of the liberation speaks for itself. Those at the airport remind me of the last days of the Third Reich when certain persons ran away through the metro tunnels because they didn't want to fall into the hands of the Red Army. Life might be uncomfortable for certain western collaborators now that Taliban power has been restored. It will be interesting to see what will happen. We in the west might want to hope that justices will not be done.
